Kim Johnston For two summers
Beach Week has been fortunate to have the professional expertise of Kim Johnston. We'd wanted
her to "come on board" for three years, but she'd previously been unavailable due to other professional obligations at the
national level in our Association. She has proven to be absolutely dynamic! Kim is Immediate Past President of the entire
National Association for College Admission Counseling, a professional association with over 10,000 College and High School
members. In addition, she has held several offices within the New England Association for College Admission Counseling. In
2001 she was awarded the NEACA Counselor of the Year in Maine. She is a highly acclaimed Keynoter and Presenter at numerous
professional associations. During 2008, Kim traveled twice to Seoul, South Korea to speak about US college admission practices.
She spoke to the Korean Council for University Education in April and presented in Stream 1, Future Oriented Innovation of
University Education, at the Global Human Resources Forum in November. She holds degrees from the University of Dallas
and University of Maine. Go Black Bears! Before returning home to Maine for graduate school, she taught Theater Arts and English
in TX for 6 years. At MacArthur High School she directed theater productions and coached the speech and debate team, including
a National Forensics League Humorous Interpretation national champion. In her spare time Kim enjoys hosting parties,
attending movies and the theater, reading, and travel. Her Beach Week specialty is Italian pizza from scratch. Yum! Kim and Linda co-lead Critical Reading and Writing. |
